REVIEW: Tarte Light of the Party Collector's Makeup Case

Tis the season for being..... waaay too early for the holidays. I was eyeing up this particular holiday palette on the Sephora website for a long while, I finally caved when I picked up that last one at my local Sephora. And let me show you why you need to get your hands on this.

The Light of the Party Collector's Makeup Case is a part of Tarte Holidaze Collection for 2015. It retails for $71 Canadian. In this case you get a total of 30 high performance naturals eyeshadows, a bronzer, a blush, a highlight, a deluxe sample of Tarte's Light's, Camera, Lashes mascara and a duo ended travel sized eyeshadow brush.
Mascara, brush, and travel palette.
24 eyeshadow palette.

This was my first time trying this mascara, and I absolutely love it. I layer it with MAC's False Lashes mascara for a combination of length and volume. It's a great add to the case and I recommend this mascara to anyone looking for a lengthening mascara

I love the concept of a travel sized palette within a bigger one. The travel palette does not come with a mirror but it is compact. I recommend taking out this palette out of the case because sometimes when you open the case, the palette falls out once you remove the tape. To avoid compromising the bottom shadows, remove this palette, you'll thank me later.

Hi there! :)
Once you remove the travel palette, the space is covered with a good sized mirror. I also admire the engineering of the palette. The mascara and brush click into the palette so they wont fall out.

For a travel size brush, this is amazing. The fluffy blending side does its job and the denser side is great for packing on colour.

Let's go into swatches shall we?
Starting off with the bronzer, blush and highlight from the travel palette.

Social butterfly is a matte bronzer, and honestly, it would be more suitable for someone of a lighter complexion. It has a buttery consistency to the touch however it blends perfectly. For my skin tone, it gives me a nice glow.

Amazed is a matte warm peachy colour. A very universal colour, Tarte did a great job choosing this for their palette. I usually skip blush, but ever since I got the case, I haven't stopped using it. Again, buttery to the touch just like the bronzer.

Pink Champange is a shimmery pink based highlight. Again, I am not one for highlighter but sometimes I will add this down the bridge of my nose and above my cupid's bow. It is highly pigmented, a little goes a long way!

Social Butterfly, Amazed, Pink Champagne.
Popcorn Strand is a matte peach toned highlight.

Wrapped Up is a matte baby pink, perfect for highlighting the brow bone.

Dancer and Prancer is a light brown with a hint of shimmer

Shining Star is a shimmery warm brown

Yule is Surprised is a matte dark warm brown, almost chestnutty colour.

And finally, Mulberry and Bright, the star of this travel palette is a plum colour with purple glitters throughout

Now let's get into the bigger palette, starting with the first row of eyeshadows

Sugar Cookie is a matte yellow toned highlight shade.

In a Flurry is a cool toned shimmery highlight.

Fizz the Season is a metallic silver with pink tones throughout.

It's Snow Time is a yellow toned shimmery highlight. Almost the shimmery version of Sugar Cookie.

Eggnog is spot on to it's colour. It is a matte light yellow that looks like...well eggnog.

What a Wonderful Pearl is a matte white with pinkish undertones.

From Left to Right: What a Wonderful Pearl, Eggnog, It's Snow Time, Fizz the Season, In a Flurry, Sugar Cookie
Miracle of Light is a metallic taupey coppery shade.

Rum Pum Plum is a matte light muted mauve shade.

Tartetini is a matte lilac shade.

Baby it's Gold Outside is a metallic gold. It's one of my favourite shades, perfect for the holidays.

Peach on Earth is true to its name. A matte warm peach tone, perfect for warming up any eye look.

Come What Grey has become my favourite transition shade. It is a matte warm grey.

From Left to Rightt: Come What Grey, Peach on Earth, Baby it's Gold Outside, Tartetini, Rum Pum Plum, Miracle of Light
Are you loving these holiday themed names like I am? Let's move onto the next row.

Under the Mistle-Taupe is a metallic cool toned taupe shade.

Ring-a-ling is a metallic silver with taupe glitters throughout. It has purple undertones.

Fireside Chat is a shimmery brick red shade.

Party Favoured is a matte slate grey shade. A great transition colour to use in the crease.

Gingerbread Mansion is a shimmery cool toned dark brown.

Chrome for the Holidays, another fun holiday colour, is a metallic shade with hints of gold and silver.

Left to Right: Chrome for the Holidays, Gingerbread Mansion, Party Favored, Fireside Chat, Ring-a-ling, Under the Mistle-Taupe
And finally, what I like to call the "Smokey Row" All of the colours in this last row are all mattes, giving the palette a total of 14 matte shades.

Sleigh Watch is a cool toned dark grey

Mulled Wine a deep plum shade

Cocoa What Fun a warm brown with red undertones

Black Velvet a.....black.

Haute Chocolate a cool toned dark brown

Midnight Kiss (another favourite) a navy blue.

Left to Right: Midnight Kiss, Haute Chocolate, Black Velvet, Cocoa What Fun, Mulled Wine, Sleigh Watch
I should note, I did not use any eyeshadow primer when making these swatches, so what you see in pigmentation is what you get. All of these shades are buttery and soft to the touch, and the lighter shades are not chalky at all. The matte shades are very easy to blend and build and the metallic colours are beautiful.

My final verdict, if you can get your hands on this, it'll be the only makeup case you need for the holidays. So, get them while you can!
